Close to the center of Vienna lies a family-owned boutique hotel, which distinguish itself for its certificates of eco-frendliness, sustainability and organic products. The Best Western Premiere Harmonie Vienna is a excellent example of a modern city hotel’s ability to be both casual and comfortable. Here’s my review.
Refurbished from top to bottom
In October I spent 3 wonderful days in Vienna. The Austrian capital took me by storm for its elegance, historical charm and grandiosity. Maybe this is exactly why I loved coming “home” to Hotel Harmonie Vienna after hours of walking and exploring. The hotel simply feels like a home away from home, and isn’t that what a hotel’s supposed to do?
The hotel is family-owned and named after its location; Harmoniegasse in Vienna’s 9th district. The buildings are classical for Vienna and they’ve been completely refurbished from top to bottom – something that is actually significant for the hotel in general. Old meets new, classic meets modern.

I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist, who provided me with all necessary details; he even recommended nice, authentic restaurants in the area. I was ready to see my room; a 25 m2 Comfort Double Room. The interior reflects the rest of the hotel – cosy and comfortable. A big double bed with layers of soft cushions, a small lounge area and a desk with all the necessary equipment. Last-mentioned included a coffee machine and some handmade Austrian chocolate.
Traces of dance and art
Hotel Harmonie Vienna has one recurring motif in its interior design; dance. From the moment you step into the reception area, art containing music and dance greets you – and it continues all through the hotel. An impressive dance video is installed in the lobby and there’s even a pair of used ballet shoes framed and glazed. The reason for this is not only the clear connection to the rich cultural life in Vienna; it’s simply the passion of Hotel Manager Sonja Wimmer, who has been an avid piano player and dancer herself for many years.
Next to the lobby guests can enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate in the soft couches next to the fireplace. And complimentary cake and tea/coffee is served here every afternoon.

Healthy breakfast and Bio garantie
If there’s one thing the family-owned hotel is proud of, it’s the 3 certificates showing their high level of quality. It’s the first hotel in Vienna holding the “Austrian Bio Garantie”-certificate for organic products. This is especially reflected in the lavish breakfast buffet containing pretty much anything you’d need – especially the healthier choices. On top of all that, a team of breakfast waitresses are ready to cater for the needs and requests of the guests. Allergy-friendly products are available too, and coffee and tea naturally derives from the Viennese gourmet coffee distributor, Meinl.

Hotel Harmonie Vienna is a charming and comfortable 4-star boutique hotel, whose services will definitely cater the needs of almost any traveler. However, families with children or business travelers might opt for something a bit more central, as it takes approximately 15 minutes by foot to reach the buzzing city center of Vienna.

It’ a bit outside of the center, for which reason families with children might opt for something more central.
