Summer is finally here! Before us are (hopefully) 3 good months of sunshine, outdoor life and travels. In this post, I’ve included some of my own best recommendations for staying healthy and looking good all throughout the season.
I wish you a wonderful summer!

MINERAL SUNSCREEN

There’s a world of difference between a chemical and a natural (also known as a physical) sunscreen. Most of the sunscreens you find in drugstores and supermarkets, are chemical and thereby full of negative side effects for both us and mother nature.
It’s quite simple, really. While a chemical sunscreen penetrates the skin and absorbs damaging UV rays to protect it, a natural sunscreen sits on top of your skin without penetrating your bloodstreams.
And did you know that chemical sunscreen filters are so pollutive that they directly kill coral reefs? This has caused the island of Hawaii to act on the issue. In 2021, they became the first US state to ban chemical sunscreens containing the harmful ingredients, Oxybenzone and Octinoxate. Last-mentioned ingredients have proved to be harmful to both humans and our oceans.
This should be reason enough to get yourself a mineral sunscreen! There are several good ones on the market, but my favourites are: Beam Balm from iLoveEcoEssentials and Anthelios Mineral Moisturizer from La Roche Posay.
BEAUTY TREATMENTS AT ALMA KLINIK IN HILLERØD, DENMARK

If you want to pamper yourself and look your best this summer, I highly recommend paying a visit to ALMA Cosmetic Klinik in Hillerød (40 minutes North of Copenhagen). Owner Vivian Thygesen is an experienced Cosmetic Nurse specializing in treatments that underline your natural beauty. From filler and botox to laser – and brow treatments, you’re in safe and experienced hands here.
I had a few treatments done here earlier this year, including lip filler and botox, and I was very pleased with the results. Making your way to Hillerød, which is a lovely historic town just a train ride away from Copenhagen, is worth it in every way. If you mention the code ‘thehotelcounsellor’ when booking, you’ll get 20% off any treatment. GOGOGO!
SOFT CASHMERE FOR COOLER SUMMER DAYS

Wrapping yourself in soft cashmere must be one of life’s ultimate pleasures – at least, that’s what I think. The Danish brand Club Collection has been around since 1980, but I only recently got to know their products better through a collaboration. Based on values such as quality (they produce all their items themselves), sustainability and zero waste, Club Collection offers a wide range of clothing for women, e.g. shirts and trousers, lounge wear, accessories, turtle necks, socks and more.
Studies have shown that cashmere can promote the production of Oxytocin, which makes you feel calm, safe and less stressed. Cooler summer days are perfect for cashmere clothing, which you don’t even have to wash because it’s self-cleaning.
GLOWING SKIN WITH COLLAGEN FROM OSLO SKIN LAB

It’s been on everyone’s lips in recent years; collagen powder. But in case you haven’t heard, it gives you healthy, glowing skin from the inside.
Oslo Skin Lab has a natural, clean and honest approach to skincare, which infuses both of their products; The Solution and The Basics. First-mentioned is a high-quality collagen powder containing only 1 ingredient; hydrolized collagen, which contributes to increased skin elasticity, a softer skin and fewer wrinkles. The powder is taste neutral, so you can easily mix it in your coffee, lunch or morning smoothie. Results show individually, but there should be a visible effect after two months of use.
HYDRATING GREEN MORNING SMOOTHIE

And speaking of morning smoothies… starting with one of these will give you the best start to the day! Full of delicious nutrients, this recipe is one of my favourites – especially on warm summer days where you really need to stay hydrated. If you like the sweet taste of pineapple, go ahead and include this in your healthy morning routine. If you want to enjoy it as a meal replacement or after a workout, simply add some almond butter or oats. It’s sooo good!
You need:
- Baby spinach
- Pineapple
- Banana
- Milk (preferably plant-based)
- A handful of ice cubes
Add as much as you’d like of each ingredient into a blender and blend away! Add a dash of lemon to make it extra fresh.
